The feminine psyche that resides in some fashion in every human being.
This suspended sculpture was created with 48 muslin, thread, and wax scrolls above the 4” porcelain female torso, and 47 scrolls below the torso, 95 scrolls total. The scrolls vary from 2” to 9” in length and each one was individually formed on a 200 degree aluminum palette by saturating a piece of natural cotton muslin and then rolling into a scroll. Each scroll was then embellished with thread, rusted tissue paper, or encaustic paint, and then tied together with waxed cord.

This suspended sculpture hangs from a bamboo pole and was created with 69 paper and wax scrolls. The scrolls vary from 7” to 21” in length and each one was individually formed on a 200 degree aluminum palette by saturating a length of found paper and then rolling into a scroll. Each scroll was embellished with additional layers of paper, ink, and/or encaustic and then hand tied together with waxed cord.
